About the ECA Project

We guide young people becoming towards getting knowledge and be empowered as European citizens.

 

The European Citizenship Academy is a European youth education project which aims to engage young people and youth organisations in the democratic process and society by offering training, developing exchanges and encouraging meetings, discussion and debate, to help them identify their link with the EU, its values and its democratic foundations, in a word to accompany them in becoming actively aware of their European citizenship.

PROJECT PARTNERS

A consortium of professional associations, recognised in their own countries for the work they do in the youth field, and more specifically with experience in European youth work, the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+.

Pistes Solidaries the coordinator of the ECA project, is a youth association focusing on European dynamics and access to European programmes for young people (European mobility). Its motto is Europe in Action.

Fundacja Centrum Aktywności Twórczej aims to fulfil a number of missions, including strengthening local activities for young people, thereby reinforcing local social capital. It bases its working methods on non-formal education as a complement to formal education, through partnerships with educational institutions

Poraka Nova works for improvement of the quality of life of the people with intellectual disabilities and effective promotion of the rights of people with intellectual disabilities, as well on youth infromation and empowring youth through education.

Associação Juvenil de Deão’s main aim is to enable young people to develop a range of social and human skills that will help them to become more independent. AJD welcomes and sends young people as part of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), and has been awarded a quality label.

TDM 2000 is an independent not-for-profit organisation that supports young people who want to get involved as volunteers. TDM 2000’s activities are varied, and the association is particularly active in the field of EU opportunities for young people.

United Societies of Balkans organization was created as a respond to the pressure of constant changes in the Balkan and Eastern European region and under the need for the creation of a better social environment. Key areas of the organization’s activities concern the defense of human rights.

Cazalla is an association based in southern Spain, founded in 2007. It is very active in European and international youth work. Their main mission is “to promote active citizenship, social inclusion, youth mobility, volunteering, and much more.

Centre for Capacity Building and Empowerment – CCBE is a youth and citizenship education organisation. The aim of the association’s activities is to connect Swedish and European youth on social topics and issues. Every year, CCBE organises youth exchanges and participates in sending young Swedes on exchanges.

Project Objective

ECA’s overall aim is to get young people and youth organisations involved in the democratic process and in society by offering training, developing exchanges and encouraging meetings, discussion and debate, with the aim of helping them to identify their link with the EU, its values and its democratic foundations, in short to help them become actively aware of their European citizenship.

Specific Objectives

Create an e-learning & hybrid information and learning pathway on the European Union for young people and youth workers.

  • Increase young people’s knowledge of the European Union
  • Train youth workers to raise awareness and educate about Europe
  • Create information resources tailored to young people
  • Initiate an online pathway for young people to learn and develop their
    knowledge of the European Union

 

Experience your European citizenship.

  • Create situations to enable young people & youth workers to
    understand and experience their EU citizenship.
  • Create spaces for young people from different countries and
    backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities, to meet and talk
    about EU.
  • Promote EU in actions through EU programmes for youth,
    volunteering and commitment (Erasmus+ & ESC in particular)
  • Promote the exchange of good practice & the networking of different experiences of information and education about EU.

Acting and experiencing European citizenship.

  • Supporting young people’s involvement in European education
    initiatives at local level
  • Promote information and education on Europe for young people among
    stakeholders, decision-makers and other young people
  • Express your expectations and desires, and talk to decision-makers

Youth Exchange in Poland

The youth exchange was held from 11-17 June in Poland, where 25 participants from 5 countries joined to foster knowledge and understanding of the European Union as one of the main objectives of the project.

Youth Exchange in France

From 22-30 July 2024 the youth exchange in France was held and hosted by the ECA project leader Pistes Solidaries.

ECA Campaigns

 

ECA Info campaign

ECA info campaign was created and delivered by the project partners before and during the European elections 6-9 June 2024 with an aim to educate young people on the importance of their democratic participation, using their voting right and civic engagement.
