Young people across Europe are raising their voices for a better, fairer, and more inclusive future. At recent ECA Youth Exchanges in North Macedonia and Spain, participants came together to reflect on Europe’s challenges and opportunities, offering concrete recommendations for action.
From the exchange in North Macedonia, youth highlighted the urgent need to address digitalization, climate change, migration, and human rights. Their recommendations included making AI and technology ethical, raising awareness about digital literacy, supporting mental health, and ensuring cybersecurity and dignified living standards. They also called for stronger inclusion of people with disabilities, fairer migration policies, solidarity across EU countries, and an end to the war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the exchange in Spain focused on education, equality, and participation. Young people stressed the importance of fighting racism, lowering university fees, promoting Erasmus+ opportunities, and creating more accessible paths to education. They also emphasized the need for green volunteering, stronger mental health support, youth-led social projects, and easier opportunities to travel and engage in European initiatives.
Together, these recommendations show that Europe’s young generation is ready to take on today’s most pressing issues—from digital addiction to climate change, from inclusion to education, from solidarity to peace. Their voices remind us that building Europe’s future starts with listening to its youth.
