Within the European Citizenship Academy (ECA) project, young people from across Europe came together in Youth Exchanges in France (22-30 July 2024) and Poland (11-17 June 2024) to share their visions, ideas, and recommendations for the future of Europe. The gatherings brought together participants from Greece, Poland, Spain, Portugal, and France, fostering cross-cultural dialogue on European Citizenship, inclusion, sustainability, and opportunities for youth.

The participants formulated key recommendations for the European Union, focusing on climate action, ecology, rail connectivity, education, sustainability, and youth engagement. Their proposals called for stronger environmental policies, equal opportunities across regions, improved railway networks linking all EU countries, inclusive education systems, and more structured platforms for youth to participate in EU decision-making.

The exchanges also explored creative and thought-provoking questions, prompting participants to reflect on how to make the EU more visible to young people, how they would explain it to someone unfamiliar with it, and what changes could make European citizens happier. Ideas ranged from interactive games and cultural festivals to cheaper flights, more youth-led policy influence, and easier access to cross-border job opportunities.

These recommendations and reflections are not just ideas on paper—they represent the collective voice of European youth who are ready to take an active role in shaping the continent’s future. Through the ECA project, their messages aim to inspire policymakers, communities, and fellow young citizens to work together for a more inclusive, sustainable, and connected Europe.
