From 21 to 29 August 2025, Spanish Alicante became the stage for the youth exchange GEN EU: United We Play organized by Cazalla Intercultural, welcoming young participants aged 13 to 15 from Spain, France (Pistes Solidaires), Italy (TDM2000), Poland (Fundacja CAT), and North Macedonia (Poraka Nova). The exchange aimed to introduce the youngest generation to European values, active citizenship, and the opportunities offered by Erasmus+.

Throughout the week, participants explored their identities as young Europeans while discussing stereotypes, prejudices, and the idea of creating their “ideal country.” Workshops on Youthpass Key Competences and interactive activities encouraged them to reflect on the role they can play in shaping the future. As part of a practical participation we had creative group challenges that brought out teamwork and leadership skills, and open discussions about human rights and fairness. Days were also filled with games, laughter, and the Mediterranean sun, making learning a joyful experience. The group created a list of what they would like to see in the future of Europe, ideas and wishes that, thanks to the project, will be shared with Members of the European Parliament. This gave the youngest participants a concrete way to make their voices heard. The programme also included several excursions: exploring the local environment, discovering Spanish culture, and the interactive Museum of Illusions. These moments outside the workshop room added new perspectives and plenty of fun to the experience.  Learning was supported by a playful system of Learning Badges, helping participants track and celebrate their achievements. Beyond the sessions, the group shared cultural traditions through theatre, songs, and lively intercultural evenings, creating an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect.

The project showed how even the youngest can engage with European values, broaden their horizons, and discover that together we can build a fairer and more united society. For many, it was not just their first Erasmus+ experience, but also the beginning of long-lasting friendships and a stronger sense of belonging to Europe.
